Elementary and Secondary Education
Pre-Professional Program
This pre-professional program is designed to prepare students to transfer to a university to complete a bachelor’s degree and a multiple subject or single subject teaching credential. Students will have the opportunity to take specialized courses that provide opportunities for students to learn about the Education system, as well as fieldwork opportunities in traditional and non traditional school settings. These specialized courses may include:
- EDUC 105 (3 units) - Exploration in the Field of Education
- Students complete 15 hours of structured observation in traditional and non traditional school settings
- EDUC 114 (1 unit) - Tutoring in Elementary Schools
- Students complete 20 hours of fieldwork experience in an elementary classroom setting
- EDUC 201 (3 units) - Introduction to Education
- Students complete 45 hours of structured observation and fieldwork experience
- EDUC 210 (3 units) - The Teaching Experience: Secondary Education
- Students complete 45 hours of structured observation and fieldwork experience in a secondary classroom setting
