The Associate in Arts degree in Elementary Teacher Education for Transfer (AA-T) provides students will have a strong foundation in introductory content area subject matter requirements for teaching at the elementary school level. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in supervised fieldwork in K-12 settings.
- Prepares students to transfer to a CSU to complete a bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies and into a multiple subject teaching credential program.
- Completion of the A.A.-T degree also provides guaranteed admission with junior status to the CSU system, along with priority admission to the local CSU in the Liberal Studies major. - Students will demonstrate a knowledge base of theory specific to childhood (1st-6th grade) education.
- Students will apply the knowledge base of theory to practice through thoughtful reflections on classroom observations.
- Students will understand and be conversant about the main philosophical and sociological ideas and trends that have influenced education as well as be able to analyze their application and importance for teaching today.
