Early Childhood Education Laboratory Schools
College Early Childhood Education Laboratory Schools serve as a training site for future teachers where students can observe high quality programs implementing evidence based child development practices.
- While some community colleges do not have a lab school, as a part of the Rancho Santiago Community College District, Santa Ana College students have access to six early childhood laboratory schools.
Specialized courses provide our students with opportunities to learn how to teach while using developmentally appropriate practices, as well as observe and work alongside early childhood education teachers in a Lab School setting:
- CDEV 108 (3 units) - Observation and Assessment for Early Learning
- Students complete child observations in a lab school setting
- CDEV 111A (3 units) - Principles and Practices of Teaching Young Children
- Students complete assignments and child observations in a lab school setting
- CDEV 111B (3 units) - Introduction to Curriculum for Young Children
- Students complete assignments and child observations in a lab school setting
- CDEV 298A/B (3.5 units) (CDEV 296 in Fall 2025, 4 Units) - Practicum: The Student Teaching Experience
