Child Development Permit
Professional Growth Advisors: Dr. Chris Becerra and Professor Chantal Lamourelle
A Child Development Permit is an early childhood education credential issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. It authorizes service in the care, development, and instruction of children in a child care and development program. These permits are required for individuals working in a state funded (in a school district) or federally funded (head start) child care and development program with children ages 0-5 and/or ages 5-12 (school age emphasis). There are multiple levels within the structure of these permits that authorize different levels of care and instruction for young children, as well as supervision of child care and development programs.
Education code §8303(a) provides that, "each person employed by a public or private agency in a position requiring a child development permit for the supervision and instruction of children... shall be deemed to be employed in a position requiring certification qualifications."
We offer certificate programs that students can obtain in order to recieve professional growth hours to renew your child development permit.
