I began my career at SAC as part of the Transfer Center Staff right out of graduate school. I left briefly, but returned to SAC in my current position in November 2000. I have often said that SAC represents “A Fountain of Hope”. This college is special because of the individuals who chose to work here and most importantly, the students who trust us with their hopes and dreams. It’s an honor and privilege (and a ton of fun) to work alongside so many passionate and dedicated people and to serve such amazing students.

A.A. Liberal Arts (Santa Ana College)
B.A., English (UC Irvine)
M.S., Counseling-Student Development in Higher Education (CSU Long Beach)
My educational journey started here at Santa Ana College over 13 years ago and it is here where I had the opportunity to not only earn my degree, but participate in a lot of the programs you see here today including the Center for Teacher Education. It is through these programs that helped me transfer to UC Irvine and earn my Bachelor's degree while finding my passion for Higher Education. Santa Ana College has always held a special place in my heart and after serving as a Transfer Center Specialist and Student Services Coordinator for the University Transfer Center, I took a leap of faith and transitioned into counseling after earning my Masters Degree from CSU Long Beach. It is my privilege to now serve as a counselor to the program that once gave so much to me. It is my hope that I can continue to inspire and serve our Santa Ana College Future Educators!
Rocio Zamudio, M.S.
Adjunct Counselor, Bilingual Educator Apprenticeship Program
A.A. Liberal Arts (Santa Ana College)
B.A., English (CSU Fullerton)
M.S., Counseling-Student Development in Higher Education (CSU Long Beach)
My educational journey started here at Santa Ana College over 19 years ago as a pre-med student in the MESA program. Though I did not persist as pre-med (chem and I were not friends 😛) I found that my passion for helping others translated perfectly into helping students. I recognize how pivotal programs are at SAC in helping students reach their potential, so it was a privilege to return to SAC as staff while I completed my Master’s degree in Counseling. Now it is my honor to return to the Teacher Ed team as a counselor for the Bilingual Educator Apprenticeship Program!

B.A., Sociology with a minor in Psychology (CSU Dominguez Hills)
Master's of Science in Higher Education (CSU Fullerton)
I have a Master of Science in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Higher Education from California State University, Fullerton (CSUF), and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a Minor in Psychology from California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH). My passion for Student Affairs began during my time at CSUDH as a first-generation, Latino student from a working-class background. It was there that I witnessed the educational inequities in the higher education system firsthand. That experience helped me realize the critical role support programs play in shaping a student’s college journey, sparking my passion for helping underrepresented students navigate higher education.
I have experience working with a variety of student populations, including first-generation college students, low-income students, men of color, undocumented students, high-achieving students, and transfer students. I approach my work through an asset-based lens, helping students identify and build upon their community cultural wealth.
I was born in Long Beach and raised in San Pedro and Carson, California. When I’m not working, I’m a huge fan of Japanese anime, manga, video games, and enjoy streaming on Twitch and YouTube.

B.S., Health Science, Health Care Management (CSU Dominguez Hills)
Master's in Public Administration (CSU Dominguez Hills)
I began working at Santa Ana College in 2011 within SAUSD’s Middle College High School, eventually transitioning to higher education roles in student services. My experience spans multiple roles in EOPS, CARE, and CalWORKs. Through these positions, I developed a passion for supporting community college students. I am excited to continue supporting the Santa Ana community through the Center for Teacher Education. I am proud to help future educators navigate Santa Ana College while connecting them to opportunities and resources that will develop them into community leaders in their teaching profession.
