The following awards are presented annually by the Academic Senate to recognize the impact and excellence of our Santa Ana College faculty. All Santa Ana College (SAC) Credit and SAC School of Continuing Education faculty, classified professionals, and administration are eligible to nominate. (Students nominate their favorite SAC professors, counselors, librarians, and staff for the SAC TEACH Awards in Spring led by SAC's Center for Teacher Education.)

2024 Awards for Excellence Program
Distinguished Faculty Award
The annual DISTINGUISHED FACULTY AWARD is awarded for teaching excellence and is the highest honor bestowed upon a faculty member of Santa Ana College. Nominations are requested from SAC faculty and staff. When nominating a faculty member please consider the following: activities that demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, awards and honors, writing and publications, civic and industry involvement, leadership experiences, and other activities both on and off campus. Nominees will be asked to submit documentation in support of their nomination which will be reviewed by a committee of previous recipients of the award. The faculty member chosen as the Distinguished Faculty will receive an honorarium. During the following academic year, the faculty member will offer a public address and the speech will be published electronically and distributed to colleges throughout the state.
Winners of this award will be selected by a committee that includes a representative of the Academic Senate Executive Team as well as previous Distinguished Faculty. This award is reserved for tenured faculty at Santa Ana College, Credit and School of Continuing Education.

Profiles in Excellence
ADJUNCT FACULTY AWARD
This award honors one Santa Ana College and one School of Continuing Education adjunct faculty who have demonstrated excellence in their teaching. The recipients will receive an honorarium and plaque.
Criteria for this award include the following:
- Outstanding teaching abilities, which may include integrating technology, demonstrated student success, or innovative teaching techniques and materials.
- Contribution to the college outside of the classroom, which may include acting as student club advisor, participation in committees, mentoring, and leadership activities.
- Have taught at SAC or School of Continuing Education for at least four semesters.
CREATIVE EXPRESSION AWARD
This award honors a faculty member whose poetry, prose, audio/video, artistic creations including dance, music, theater and or photography has added to the current knowledge of their discipline and brought recognition to the institution or resulted in other noteworthy benefits by being published, exhibited or performed.
CAREER & TECHNICAL EDUCATION AWARD
This award honors exemplary occupational education programs that provide outstanding services to both students and the community. This award may be presented to one faculty or a group of faculty within a program. Career programs from any division may be nominated for this award.
INNOVATION AWARD
This honors a faculty member demonstrating excellence in the development of superior projects or activities which supports instruction, strengthens counseling and improves awareness of a program. We would like you to take this opportunity to nominate any recently completed project that has been successfully field-tested and is now in place.

PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
This award is given in recognition of faculty whose professional contributions have enriched their field of teaching, their professional organizations or their communities, and generated a significant and positive impact on student success bringing recognition to themselves and the Santa Ana College or School of Continuing Education.
Examples of achievements may include:

Outstanding professional development workshop, seminar or in-services

Successful grant writing resulting in additional monies for student services and/or success
