A firefighter's responsibility is to extinguish fires and keep people and the environment safe. Due to the dangerous nature of the work, it is important that all firefighters remain calm and keep a positive attitude while on the job. Those who have these qualities are more likely to succeed in this profession.
Santa Ana College hosts one of the largest and oldest fire technology programs in California. It is nationally recognized as a premier fire-training program. Graduates will not only receive their California Firefighter I Certification, but certification in Auto Extrication, Hazardous Materials First Responder, Rescue Systems I, Fire Control III, ICS 200 and Low Angle Rescue.
