The History Department participated in this wonderful event, again providing children a space to draw a "cave painting" and add it to the cave. We brought back the "cave tunnel" and had a blast!
The History Department honored the victims of the 1911 Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire by, in part, reading the names of the women, girls, and men who lost their lives and by laying a yellow carnation for each name read. We also learned about the Unite Here! Local 11 fight for hotel worker rights throughout Orange County and much of Southern California - similar rights that workers fought for after the tragedy of the Triangle fire.
