athletic programming
(Santa Ana, CA) – With the help of dedicated supporters, the Santa Ana College Foundation continues its mission of ensuring no student is denied educational opportunities due to financial constraint. A key event that propels this mission is the annual Ed Arnold Golf Classic, which will be on Monday, May 4, 2020. The tournament has already raised over $54,000 in sponsorships this year.
Held at the Mission Viejo Country Club, the event is presented by the Santa Ana College Foundation and the college's Athletics & Kinesiology Department. Sponsors include title sponsor Craig Realty Group, Aitken Aitken Cohn, Cal Empire Engineering, Union Bank, Garden Grove Hospital, Citizens Business Bank, Crevier Classic Cars, McCarthy Building Companies, Orange County Department of Education, and National Sports Apparel. The Golf Classic has grossed over $1.3 million over the past 15 years, with last year's golf classic raising a record-breaking $100,000.
Over the past 11 years, funds raised from the Ed Arnold Golf Classic have provided critical student scholarships, equipment to sports programs, uniforms, and facilities improvements to Santa Ana College totaling over $460,000.
2019 SAC Student Athletes/Scholarship Recipients
Critical transfer scholarships that are funded by this event help bridge the gap for those student athletes transferring from Santa Ana College to a university. “As a recipient of the Ed Arnold Gold Classic scholarship, I am forever thankful for the generous support from my Santa Ana College family," Alexandria Owens, former SAC student and scholarship recipient, currently attending California State University, San Bernardino.
“Craig Realty Group is honored to be the title sponsor for the 2020 Ed Arnold Golf Classic. As a Santa Ana College alumnus and someone who cares about the mission of Santa Ana College and its Athletics Department, I want to see every student athlete succeed both on and off the field. I am proud to know that my commitment is making a difference in the lives of these most-deserving students," Steven Craig, title sponsor of this year's tournament.
