(Santa Ana, Calif.) Santa Ana College (SAC) has been extended an exclusive invitation to participate in the Institute on Implementing Evidence-Based Practices in California to Serve Latinx Students, organized by Excelencia in Education in collaboration with Long Beach City College and California State University, Northridge's (CSUN) Global HSI Equity Innovation Hub. This event will take place on Oct. 11, 2024 at CSUN.
Excelencia in Education, an American non-profit organization dedicated to accelerating Latinx student success in higher education, has partnered with CSUN's Global HSI Equity Innovation Hub to provide academic institutions with targeted support and resources to uplift their Latinx students. This partnership aims to empower campuses to enhance their efforts in authentically serving Latinx students in an intentional and evidence-based manner.
The Institute will serve as a platform for higher education institutions to assess their strengths, identify areas for improvement, and advance their strategic initiatives for fostering a more inclusive educational environment. The day-long event is designed to provide direct guidance on how SAC and other selected institutions can strengthen their commitment to effectively serving Latinx students, a key demographic for California's future workforce.
For SAC, this means taking another significant step forward in advancing its mission to serve all students, with a particular emphasis on Latinx student success.
"We are thrilled to receive this invitation and look forward to collaborating with leaders in education to continue our work," said Dr. Annebelle Nery, president of SAC. "This is a critical opportunity for us to identify best practices that will further enrich the educational experiences of our students, especially our Latinx students."
The event is part of a broader effort to help institutions become Seal of Excelencia-ready, which recognizes colleges and universities that demonstrate positive outcomes in Latinx student success. SAC's participation underscores its ongoing commitment to fostering a campus environment that prioritizes equity, inclusion, and intentional strategies to support all students, particularly Latinx students.
