(Santa Ana, CA) - Santa Ana College (SAC) Foundation has teamed up with KL Image Group to continue to expand the Student Leadership Institute by offering a comprehensive, professional development training seminar that will provide the students with the unwritten work rules that college students need to know before graduating and entering the workforce. The all-day three-module seminar is designed to help selected SAC students more easily transition between textbook knowledge and workplace survival skills. KL Image Group will conduct the seminar on Friday, April 26, 2019, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., culminating with a certificate of completion for participants.
According to a recent survey by PayScale, a compensation data firm, even though nine in 10 recent college graduates believe they are prepared for the workforce, only half the nation's employers agree. It goes on to say colleges and universities need to address this issue urgently. Bridging this gap and releasing better-prepared students into the workforce is why the Student Leadership Institute is bringing opportunities such as this seminar to our campus to enhance our students’ educational experience and better prepare them for the real world.
"Our work with students expands beyond scholarship opportunities and must also focus on how we prepare the whole student to enter successfully in the careers of their choosing," said Linda Rose, Ed.D., president, Santa Ana College. "We hope that the soft skills, practical concepts and vital hands-on learning offered in these three modules will not only enhance the student’s academic course work but will give them the competitive advantage they will inevitably need in a global workforce."
The modules covered during the one-day seminar will train students in Assertiveness & Conflict Resolution, Presentation Delivery, and Business Attire.
"In my many years of speaking to and training students of all ages, it’s apparent that words in a book or interview tips on a screen aren’t enough to adequately prepare students for an increasingly competitive and demanding workforce," said K.L. Moore, MBA, KL Image Group. "My company is proud and excited to play an integral part in answering those tough questions students don’t even know to ask, and no one has thought to tell them, and in doing so, we are adequately preparing the next generation for what they will face."
