​Before beginning externship, each student must complete the Speech Communications prerequisite.

If English is your native language, you must successfully complete:

• Communication Studies 101:  Introduction to Interpersonal Communications or
• Communication Studies 101 H:  Introduction to Interpersonal Communications (H) or
• Communication Studies 102: Public Speaking

If English is your second language, you must successfully complete: 

• Communication Studies 097:  Conversational English

(To develop communications skills, non-native speakers are strongly encouraged​ to complete Communication Studies 101 also.)

Communication Studies courses can be taken at SAC or at another community college.  
If you take the courses elsewhere, get a copy of your transcript and a catalog description of the course from the other college.
