CAL Grant Eligibility Requirements

 

2012-2013

To be eligible for a Cal Grant, an applicant must:

  •  Be a U.S. Citizen, permanent resident, or eligible non-citizen 
  • Be a California resident attending an eligible school in California on at least a half-time basis 
  • Meet United States Selective Service requirements if required to do so 
  • Apply prior to the March 2 deadline.  
  • Meet the satisfactory academic progress standards as determined by the institution the student is attending 
  • Not have received a prior bachelor's degree 
  • Not be in default on a federal loan or owe a refund on a federal or state grant 
  • Not exceed the total family income or family assets ceilings outlined below:
