Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS)

Santa Ana College's Extended Opportunities Programs and Services (EOPS) is a state-funded program which works with students whose educational and socioeconomic backgrounds might limit their access to higher education or hinder their ability to be academically successful in their college-level studies.  Students who meet EOPS eligibility criteria are provided services that are “over and above” those services provided by Santa Ana College to all students.

These “over and above” services are designed to help EOPS students:

  • Identify an educational goal (Certificate, Associate’s Degree, and/or preparation for transfer) that fits with their academic/career interests;
  • Develop and follow an educational plan that helps them reach their educational goal in a time-efficient manner;
  • Achieve success in their college-level studies and maximize their learning experiences here at SAC.

  • Easy access to academic counselors serving only EOPS students
  • EOPS Resource Center (tutoring and other types of help with course materials/supplies)
  • Priority registration
  • Help with textbook or transportation costs
  • Help with financial aid, scholarship and transfer applications (CSU, UC, and private colleges)
  • Skill-building workshops and leadership opportunities
  • Additional benefits for eligible single-parent students

Students who meet all program requirements (see Mutual Responsibility Contract under EOPS Requirements and Services) each semester ,remain eligible for EOPS participation until they reach 70 degree applicable units (some exceptions may apply).   For most students, this means that they are able to complete their stated educational goal while receiving EOPS program benefits and services.
