The associate degree curriculum in
English is designed to develop proficiency in written communication and in the understanding of human nature through the study of language and literature. Completion of the degree program prepares students to pursue a major in English leading to a baccalaureate degree.
Major requirements for the Associate in Arts degree
|English 102 or 102H: Literature and Composition
English 231 and 232: Survey of English Literature
English 241 and 242: America in Literature
English 271 and 272: Survey of World Literature
*12 units of electives should be selected from any 200 or above English language or literature class including those above not taken as part of the 6-unit requirement.
