Dates:
Saturday, March 9, 2024
Location:
DISTRICT PARKING LOT, 2323 N. BROADWAY, SANTA ANA
Description:
Embark on a unique adventure to examine the San Andreas Fault with a
professor of geography. There are many myths and legends about the San Andreas
Fault and on this exclusive tour, your geographer-guide – who knows fact from
fiction down to a “fault” – will share this knowledge as we follow the Fault
through the San Gabriel Mountains on a fascinating driving tour. We’ll follow
the fault from the Cajon Pass to Acton traveling through Wrightwood and
Valyermo along the scenic backroads. Several stops will be made along the way
as your geographer-guide explains how scientists study the Fault to help
predict earthquakes and discusses what’s possible when we talk about “The Big
One.” Your geographer-guide will provide incredible information about fault
activity, local geography and geology so that
you’ll never look at mountains, rocks and cracks in the cement the same way! A
truly unique and educational experience. Enjoy an included boxed lunch picnic. This tour involves
limited walking over uneven terrain.
