Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. In many cases, students can participate in the University Link Program while also enrolled in other programs or centers such as EOPS, Promise Program, Honors Program, MESA, U2 Scholars, APSP, etc. However, ULink is a cohort-based program that requires enrollment in cohort-specific courses that may conflict with other learning communities programs such as Puente.
Please contact us if you have any further questions or concerns regarding participation.
Yes. The program is a one-year commitment in one of our three learning communities. Students must meet with a ULink counselor to determine which cohort best fits their academic pathway. Students will then enroll in 2 or 3 linked courses that make up their specific ULink cohort. Their cohort will include one counseling course per semester and a general education course required for transfer. ULink students eligible for the “honors cohort” will take 2 general ed courses per semester that can be used to satisfy their honors credit requirement for the Honors Transfer Program.
ULink students must maintain full-time status (12-units or more), but enrollment in less than full-time status may be considered for eligible DSPS students.
Students who complete their first-year in the ULink Program will be considered “continuing ULink students” and can still benefit from program services. Continuing ULink students will remain in our email database and be invited to join upcoming college tours, group service learning events, transfer-related activities and workshops, counseling appointments, transfer application support, scholarship opportunities, and more.
Yes. ULink students must complete a minimum of 50 hours of Service Learning to satisfy their participation requirement for ULink. Students that complete 100 hours of service learning within one year can earn a SAC President’s Volunteer Service Award.
