Skills for High School and Beyond!
Adult Basic Education can improve your reading, writing, and math before starting high school-level classes. The program will train you to start high school or begin a career training program. Plus, you can earn elective credits for high school.

Adult Basic Education Courses
- ABE 010: Money Matters: FInancial Literacy
In this class, students will learn how to create a personal budget. Understand and manage credit and debt. Increase wages and earning capacity. Save money for special projects.
- ABE 018: Leadership Basics, Part 2
This is the second of a two-part leadership course. Students will refine their knowledge of leadership skills to create positive changes. They apply their knowledge of leadership skills to create, direct and facilitate a student-centered event or conference designed to give them hands-on training in leading events. Five high school elective credits may be awarded for completing either ABE 018 or HSS 092. This course is the same as HSS 092.
- ABE 023: Adult Basic Education Reading
Instructs students in basic reading skills.
- ABE 046: Attitudes for Success
Helps students learn how their attitudes and behaviors affect their lives and school success.
- ABE 112: Beginning Spanish Literacy
This course helps students learn literacy skills in Spanish. This will prepare them for Intermediate Spanish Literacy and ESL courses. It focuses on phonetic skills, basic reading and writing skills, and basic mathematics. Taught in Spanish.
- ABE 113: Intermediate Spanish Literacy
This course helps students learn literacy skills in Spanish. This will prepare them for Advanced Spanish Literacy and ESL courses. It focuses on reading and writing skills, including phonics, natural sciences, social sciences and math skills. Taught in Spanish.
- ABE 114: Advanced Spanish Literacy
This course helps students learn literacy skills in Spanish. This will prepare them for ESL, ABE, high school diploma, and high school equivalency courses. It focuses on higher-level reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social science skills. Taught in Spanish.

Classes are offered online and in-person. Our in-person classes are offered at Centennial Education Center as well as various community sites in Santa Ana.
If your class is at a community site, you can register directly with your teacher in class.
You can register online. It is fast and easy.
After you register, your teacher will contact you with two ways to join your online class:
Option 1: Click the Zoom link your teacher emails you
Option 2: Access your class through Canvas
Both work from your computer, tablet, or phone.
Check your email for details from your teacher before your class starts.
You can email your teacher any time. When you register, you'll receive their contact information.
If you're taking an online class, you can also message your teacher directly in Canvas.
Some teachers use other ways to stay in touch too—they'll let you know on the first
day of class.
