The Vocational Construction Technology program prepares adults for careers in the construction trades. In partnership with the LA/OC Building and Construction Trades Council, the program introduces participants to union apprenticeship opportunities across North America.
Over 10 weeks, students attend evening classes Monday through Thursday from 5 - 9 pm. The program focuses on hands-on learning, safety training, basic construction math, and job-readiness skills. Participants also explore different construction trades, learn about union history, and connect with industry professionals.

- Be 18+ years or older
- Have a minimum 7th grade English & Math literacy
- Have proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
- Pass a drug test
- Have a valid Driver's License
- Have a High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. (Those who don't have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent, must also enroll in such a program while in the construction program.)
You will learn safety, basic refrigeration, basic electricity, heating, air-conditioning, ventilation, and soft skills. Build entry-level skills in the repair and servicing of refrigeration, air conditioning, and heating equipment. Repair equipment used in residential, industrial, and commercial buildings.

In this course, you will learn about basic operations on lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses. Study precision measurements and layout. Gain skills and knowledge to enter or upgrade in the machinist trade.
Students may be awarded 10 high school elective credits if they complete and pass all course assignments and requirements.

If you pass VMFG 680 with a grade of B or higher, you can earn credit for MNFG 158 Basic Machining Concepts and Operations through the credit-by-exam process. Credits from VMFG 680 can count towards a manufacturing technology certificate or degree at Santa Ana College.
There is no tuition cost for VMFG 680.
Students must meet with the Continuing Education Counseling Department before enrollment in this certificate.
These courses prepare you for Santa Ana College's Welding Technology Program. Get prepared for entry-level employment in the welding technology field.
You will learn shop safety, the proper use of tools and equipment. Practice various welding processes used in the welding and metal fabrication industry. Processes include Oxy-fuel cutting, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW).

If you pass VCNST 101 with a grade of B or higher, you can earn credit for WELD 101 Introduction to Welding through the credit-by-exam process. Credits from VCNST 101 can count towards a welding technology certificate or degree at Santa Ana College.
There is no tuition cost for VCNST 101.
