Sheila Adair Mondragon, 2021 SAC Scholarship Recipient and Business Administration major shares her moving story in award-winning video.
“We are so humbled by the stories these videos showcase and how they affirm the essence and importance of this campaign, the stories behind it, and the important work that is needed to move our students forward," said Christina Romero, Executive Director Office of College Advancement and Santa Ana College Foundation. The videos, which first premiered at SAC's 2021 Virtual Scholarship and Awards Ceremony in May 2021, highlighted one of our major donors, Union Bank, and showcased a few of SAC's exceptional scholars who have proven that their tenacity and hard work has paid off as they pursue their education.

The
NCMPR Medallion Awards recognize outstanding achievement in design and communication at community and technical colleges in each of NCMPR's seven districts across the United States. This regional competition for district six is exclusive to marketing and public relations professionals at two-year colleges. In 2021, NCMPR received 130 Medallion entries from 20 community and technical colleges in the district six region. Awards are judged by community college peers from another NCMPR district.
“Santa Ana College is a pillar in our community helping students meet their educational goals, and I'm extremely inspired by the stories of our remarkable students and selfless donors that the Office of College Advancement and SAC Foundation helps bring to life," said Dr. Marilyn Flores, Santa Ana College Interim President. “This campaign, including these award-winning videos, help communicate the narrative of our scholars who have stayed committed to pursuing their educational goals no matter what they face, and the profound impact that our donors make in the lives of these students."
The
Raising the Game campaign aims to create high-impact opportunities for student achievement in Santa Ana and beyond. The campaign prioritizes student success scholarships, proven high-impact programs and performance funds for the arts. Despite the community college's major impact on the community, contributing $1.2 billion to the Orange County economy, community colleges remain severely underfunded. This campaign provides direct support to SAC's diversity of students, including working mothers and fathers trying to support their families, millennials and veterans who are working multiple jobs, and students who are trying to balance life with the education they need to successfully enter the career force or transfer to a four-year university.
SAC's
Raising the Game campaign has received previous awards, including the 2019 Silver Award in Fundraising Publications from the Council for Advancement and Support for Education (CASE) and the 2019 National Paragon Award from NCMPR.
