Rehearsal Information

Rehearsal Day: Wednesdays

Arrival & Setup: 7:00 PM

Rehearsal Time: 7:20–9:20 PM

Location: Santa Ana College — Room N-114

Members are expected to arrive early, be warmed up, and be ready to begin promptly at 7:20 PM. Additional sectionals or dress rehearsals may be scheduled as needed.

Our Mission

The Santa Ana Symphony Orchestra (SASO) unites musicians across generations to pursue artistic excellence, foster musical growth, and inspire community through meaningful orchestral performance.

About Santa Ana Symphony Orchestra (SASO)

The Santa Ana Symphony Orchestra is a full symphonic ensemble and a college–community partnership between Santa Ana College musicians and Orange County adult players. Members rehearse, learn, and perform high-quality orchestral repertoire in a supportive and collaborative environment.

By bringing together musicians of varied ages and experience levels, SASO promotes musical development, mentorship, and shared artistic purpose through ensemble performance.

SASO presents two major concerts each semester and serves as a cornerstone of orchestral music-making within the Santa Ana College Music Department.

How to Join SASO

Membership in SASO is by online video audition.

Auditions are submitted as unlisted YouTube videos. Editing or splicing between sections is allowed, but each section must be recorded in one continuous take with no cuts within that section.

Audition Requirements

  • Slate (name and instrument)

  • Scales

  • Lyrical excerpt

  • Technical excerpt

  • Optional solo (up to 1 minute)

No sight-reading is required.

Upon acceptance, new members will receive instructions on which course to enroll in.

Community members must also enroll (no additional tuition cost).

Parking permits are required each semester.

Support SASO

At each concert, SASO hosts a Specialty Drawing. Patrons who support the orchestra by purchasing fundraiser tickets are entered for a chance to win themed gift baskets.

All proceeds help fund guest clinicians and essential orchestra supplies for our students.

Community & Educational Impact

SASO serves as a bridge between education and community, providing musicians of diverse backgrounds the opportunity to perform together, learn from one another, and contribute to Santa Ana’s vibrant cultural landscape.
