Parent Engagement Institute

This institute provides an intimate look at the workings of the Padres Promotores de la Educación program established by the Santa Ana Partnership in 2000. Now celebrating their 14th year, the Promotores and the educators that support this program want to share lessons learned in order for other communities to advance their regional parent empowerment work.

Those attending this two-day event will learn how to:

• Move from parent participation to authentic parent engagement
• Engage a variety of stakeholders in the planning and implementation of a similar program in their communities
• Establish a structure that can support and sustain a similar effort Develop tools and processes for managing the program
• Lay out a site-specific strategic plan that will assist them in movingward towards replication

Attendees will shadow and observe Padres Promotores in action in the community.

Throughout the institute participants will have the opportunity to hear
directly from teachers, counselors, principals and college
administrators about the challenges faced in carrying out this ambitious
model of parent engagement as well as how the successful
implementation of the Padres Promotores program has translated into
significant and positive outcomes.
