Private and Out of State Universities Transfer Information
Transferring to a private or out-of-state college/university is different from applying to a UC or CSU. The minimum requirements to transfer vary at each college. To confirm the transfer requirements, deadlines, and more, please schedule an appointment with a transfer counselor.
Santa Ana College has agreements with a number of out-of-state universities - click here to view a list of schools. If your school is not listed and/or you would like to create a transfer plan, schedule an appointment with a SAC transfer counselor by visiting us in S-110 or calling 714-564-6165.
The transfer process generally requires the following:
Complete minimum amount of transferable units
Complete appropriate English and math requirements (if required)
Complete general education courses
Complete major preparation courses
Earn and maintain a competitive GPA
Apply on time!
The application process for private universities vary by campus. Nearly 900 private schools accept the Common Application, a platform through which applicants can apply to multiple campuses at once. Although multiple campuses may exist on one application, each campus may have different submission deadlines and requirements. For assistance, please consult with the University Transfer Center or an admissions representative from your transfer university of interest.
