Liberal Arts-Mathematics and Science Emphasis Degree: AA
These courses emphasize the natural sciences which examine the physical universe, its life forms and its natural phenomena. Courses in math emphasize the development of mathematical and quantitative reasoning skills beyond the level of intermediate algebra. Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the methodologies of science as investigative tools. Students will also examine the influence that the acquisition of scientific knowledge has on the development of the world’s civilizations. Courses from both mathematics and science must be included in the 18 units selected for the emphasis. This emphasis may of interest to those planning to pursue careers in actuarial science, business, computer science, engineering, forensics, health professions, research, science, teaching and technical writing. Note: Although a course may be listed in more than one area of emphasis of the Liberal Arts degree, it may only be used to meet a requirement for a single emphasis.
