Coronavirus (COVID-19) Vaccination
Protected Together
The Rancho Santiago Community College District and Santa Ana College are committed to protect the health and well-being of our campus community while ensuring equitable access to education for our students. As SAC moves towards a resumption of increased on-campus instruction and support services, the college must align itself to a comprehensive strategy crafted to reduce the likelihood of the transmission of COVID-19.
Recognizing the available science to date regarding the safety and effectiveness of available COVID-19 vaccinations, the Board of Trustees authorizes the development of a plan requiring all students who access on-site campus programs instruction/services in person or who participate in off-site college instruction/services in person
to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless approved as exempt because of verified medical or religious reasons. Those exempted from the vaccination may be subjected to other safety measures, such as weekly testing. Students will be provided eight weeks of notice prior to the official date the mandate comes in effect.
District COVID Prevention Protocol (see below):
Rancho Santiago Community College District is taking precautionary measures in accordance with public health officials in an effort to protect the health and safety of our students and employees. It is imperative that each of us does our part and takes individual responsibility to reduce the potential spread of COVID-19 by complying with state and local directives. Mask and Safety
In light of declining case rates and hospitalizations, effective April 18, 2022, the District and Santa Ana College will adopt a new indoor mask policy and move from requiring masks indoors to strongly recommended, regardless of your vaccination and booster status. The California Department of Public Health provides detailed information on exemptions to the mask mandate.
Santa Ana College continues to implement measures to foster a safe learning environment for everyone on campus. The Health and Wellness Center will continue to follow the county health ordinance which requires mask mandates in high risk settings including healthcare, centers and clinics.
Santa Ana College is giving away $200 gift cards to fully vaccinated students to be used at the Johnson Student Center campus store for textbooks, instructional supplies or SAC gear. Students must submit proof of vaccination by August 7th (Both shots for Moderna or Pfizer, One shot for Johnson & Johnson) to receive their $200 voucher! Students who previously participated in the VAX for the Win campaign back in Fall 2021 and have already uploaded vaccination information are not eligible to participate again.
Starting February 6, 2023, students who choose to take in-person or hybrid classes and/or access services in person will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
