Emergency Medical Technician
All on-campus EMT classes can be found in the catalog under
Emergency Medical Technician 104 (basic course),
105 (skills lab), or 111 (recertification course).
General Information for Fire EMT:
Fire Technology students are required to successfully complete a
National Registry EMT course, pass the
NREMT exam and obtain California EMT certification through a local Emergency Medical Services Authority prior to entering the academy.
The Basic (or Primary) EMT class is approximately 216 hours long. Successful completion of the class permits the student to take the NREMT EMT exam. Then the successful student must take documentation of passing the NREMT EMT exam to the local EMSA to complete certification.
The certifying exam for California EMT is the National Registry exam.

Clinical EMT Skills Laboratory
Unit(s): 1.0
Class Hours: 54 Laboratory total. Supervised use of skills lab to assist the student in development of clinical competency and mastery of psychomotor skills. Hours verified by instructor. May be repeated. Grade: Pass/No Pass Only. Open Entry/Open Exit.

Class Hours: 32 Lecture total. Prerequisite: Valid EMT certificate or equivalent within past two years. Valid
CPR card: Health Care Provider or BLS Providers.
Update emergency medical techniques, equipment, and EMSA policies. Meets state requirements for EMT recertification.
