Welcome to SAC Biology
Welcome to the Santa Ana College Biology Department. We offer an associate degree in biological science which prepares students for pre-professional careers and a curriculum in a four-year institution within a self-selected specialized content area such as zoology, botany, biotechnology, microbiology, or medical sciences. The biologist is prepared to enter graduate or professional programs of study such as medicine, dentistry, agriculture, marine sciences, environmental sciences, medical or biotechnology. Many of our biological science graduates end up working in research, development, and education. A number of students in the biology department enroll in anatomy, physiology and microbiology to complete pre-requisites for health career programs. Others will complete our biology major series in cell and molecular biology, animal diversity and ecology, and plant diversity and evolution. For transfer information to the University of California or California State University please see
The Biology Department is located on the second floor of Russell Hall through Spring 2021(see map of campus). Beginning in Fall 2021, the Department is scheduled to be relocated to the new Science Center building. Courses in the area of biology are rigorous and students are encouraged to dedicate 3 hours of study for every in-class unit per week.
