​​​About SAC's Pharmacy Technology Program

• ​​Since 1972, Santa Ana College (SAC) has offered a training program for pharmacy technicians planning to work in outpatient, inpatient, and home health care pharmacies.
• In 1984, SAC became the first community college in the United States to be accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). 
  
• SAC currently has full-cycle (six-year) accreditation by ASHP and is the only program ever to receive accreditation with commendation!
  
• Currently, the Pharmacy Technology program ensures that students have the option for three educational pathways to achieve their academic/professional goals and meets the needs of employers in a variety of healthcare settings:
  
• Associate Degree in Pharmacy Technology
  
• Pharmacy Technology Advanced Certficate option
  
• Pharmacy Technology Basic Certification option
  
• All three training programs prepare you to become licensed by the California State Board of Pharmacy. 
  

 ​Pharmacy School Admission​

• ​​Santa Ana College also offers courses that will prepare you for admission to a school of pharmacy. However, required general education courses are not taught within the Pharmacy Technology Department.
