Orange County Sheriff's Regional Training Academy
The new Orange County Sheriff's Regional Training Academy is triple the size of the previous Basic Academy, and will enable Santa Ana College and the Sheriff’s Department to serve more than 800 Academy cadets. It will also provide weekend and evening education and training opportunities for existing law enforcement officers in Orange County and around the state. The 53,000 square foot complex, situated on 15 acres of land donated by the city of Tustin, is the first educational facility to open at Tustin Legacy – the former Tustin Airbase. The facility includes: classrooms, lecture halls, training yards, an auditorium / gymnasium, a physical fitness obstacle course, and administrative offices.
The academy was paid for by Measure E, a $337 million general obligation bond unanimously approved by local voters in 2002 to expand and improve community college facilities. The facility, designed by gkkworks, is a testament to the partnership established in 1970 between the Rancho Santiago Community College District and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
With this leading-edge facility and the education and training expertise of Santa Ana College and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, our local law enforcement officers will be among the best trained in the nation.
