WHAT IS STEM CORE?
The Santa Ana College STEM Core Program (formerly known as Bridge 2 Engineering, B2E) is a cohort-based learning community at SAC that helps participating students explore careers in engineering and places them on an academic pathway to become engineers.
Since 2011, SAC has partnered with Growth Sector, a non-profit organization aimed at developing the workforce of the future by creating a broader awareness of opportunities in STEM and supporting students of all backgrounds to earn degrees required to be competitive in the field. The STEM Core Program model was thus created to offer a structured and supported pathway for students to become better prepared and successful in the STEM field. Presently, SAC STEM Core is a part of a network of 20+ STEM Core programs at various community colleges nationwide.
WHY JOIN STEM CORE?
At SAC, STEM Core members will take classes together as a cohort, receive priority registration, academic counseling and tutoring, build academic and professional skills through workshops, have the opportunity to complete engineering/STEM projects (great for resumes and interviews), network with employers during speaker events and site tours, apply to paid internships only available to STEM Core members, and attend field trips to universities in preparation for transfer. Additionally, STEM Core members receive the benefit of having a dedicated support staff available for assistance and guidance throughout their academic journey at SAC.
