Demolition of Russell Hall and New Main Campus Entrance
As Santa Ana College (SAC) embarks on the latest enhancement to its campus — New Main Campus Entrance — construction of the facility/area will temporarily impact students, faculty, staff and visitors to the college.
Update
The actual demolition of the Russell Hall Building will begin late-April and continue through July 2024. For this process, we will use heavy machinery to remove the building and foundations in manageable-sized pieces to minimize noise and dust. The safety of students, employees, and community will be the top priority during this process. In addition to work crews taking every possible safety precaution, it’s also vitally important that the campus community be aware of closures and detours, pay attention to posted signage, and allow extra time to navigate around the demolition zone.

Construction Timeline:
Beginning in March 2024, fencing will be in place around the construction zone, including some walkways, near the Main Entrance at 17th Street by the X Building.
Demolition of Russell Hall and construction of the new college entrance will begin late-April and continue through July 2024.
Parking Lot #1 will be closed throughout the duration of the demolition and construction.
All other Parking Lots will remain open, including Lots #3 and #4.
Additional ADA parking spaces for students and staff have been assigned in Lot #11.
Vehicle access in and out of the SAC campus can only be accessed through Bristol Street, Washington Avenue, and College Avenue, There is no vehicle access to the SAC campus through the Main Entrance at 17th Street by the X Building. Pedestrian access in and out of the main entrance from the bus drop off adjacent to X Building will still remain open during construction. See the attached map.
Construction will occur during weekday hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
There will be noise generated by tools and equipment.

The duration of the construction project is estimated to be 23 months, starting March 2024 through February 2026.
All students, faculty, staff and visitors are encouraged to exercise caution and safety throughout the duration of the construction project.
