Continuing Education student Martina Cumplido Narciso was recently nominated for the prestigious OTAN Award!
Martina grew up in Mexico speaking the Chinantecan language. She did not learn Spanish until she was a teenager. She moved to the United States in 2020 to support her family. Since moving, she has learned English and earned her high school diploma here at the School of Continuing Education. Now she has transferred to Santa Ana College where she studies psychology. After learning three languages, she's now practicing Korean!
"Over the years, SAC and SCE have provided me with resources and scholarship for my housing, and I will always look at SCE as my first home. I wish everyone knew about this school."
The OTAN award recognizes students who achieve success from adult education. The Outreach and Technical Assistance Network seeks those who, “inspire and embody a resilient spirit, overcome difficult challenges, contribute within their own communities, and improve their own circumstances." Martina embodies each one of these characteristics.
A huge congratulations to Martina for the nomination! We're excited to see her succeed in higher education. Her hard work and resilient spirit continue to inspire us all.
