Award funds offered in your award letter are tentative.   Certain funds require additional processing steps before disbursement.  It is your responsibility to complete the process to ensure funds can be confirmed and disbursed to you.

  • All awards - Your academic transcripts from all prior colleges/universities, in the U.S. and/or foreign countries, must be submitted to the Admissions' office.  Notify Santa Ana College's financial aid office upon submitting your transcripts to the Admissions office so the financial aid office can request Admissions' office to evaluate your transcripts. Your Satisfactory Academic Progress will be recalculated after the transcript evaluation, and you award may be modified according to the evaluation result.

  • New Cal Grant Entitlement – You must confirm your high school diploma status with the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) if you haven't already done so.  You can do this online at https://my grantinfo.csac.ca.gov or at www.webgrants4students.org.  CSAC will notify us of your confirmation.

  • Federal work-studyYou must complete the hiring paperwork and the job interview before reporting to the assigned work place. The Student Placement Office has emailed you the Federal Work-Study (FWS) workshop schedule for you to attend.  If you failed to attend the FWS workshop, you may go to the Student Placement Office at the Village, room VL-106, between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm, Monday through Thursday to schedule an appointment beginning August 7th, 2017 and continuing through August 31st, 2017.  Bring a copy of this award letter when you visit the Student Placement Office.  If you do not contact the Student Placement Office by August 31st, 2017, we will assume that you have changed your mind and the FWS award will be cancelled and presented to another student.  You must maintain at least half-time (6 approved units) financial aid status to be eligible for the Federal Work-Study program.

  • Direct LoansTo apply for a Federal Direct Student Loan, you must complete the loan request form and submit it to our office as soon as possible before the deadline.  You must complete the Master Promissory Note (MPN) and the Student Loan Entrance Counseling on-line at www.studentloans.gov before you submit the loan request form.  Student Loan Exit Counseling is also required once you cease below 6 units or stop attending Santa Ana College. Exit Counseling can be done online at www.studentloans.gov.  The deadline to submit a loan request form and all required documents for loan processing for fall 2017 is 11/22/2017, and for spring 2018 is 5/13/2018.  If you have turned in a loan request but have not turned in all required documents for loan processing by the deadlines, we will assume that you have changed your mind and your Direct Loan Request will be cancelled. You must maintain at least half-time (6 approved units) enrollment and meet all federal aid requirements to be eligible for the Direct Loan program.

  • Method of Fund Disbursements: You must choose your financial aid disbursement method in order to receive your financial aid award funds.  There are two methods of electronically disbursements: ACH Transfer (Direct Deposit funds in your bank account, typically 2-3 business days after school disburses the funds); RSCCD Financial Aid Funds Card (Funds available same day when school disburses the funds).  To sign up go to www.enroll.moneynetworkedu.com.  If you do not select either ACH Transfer or RSCCD Financial Aid Funds Card, you will received your funds via a paper check that may take at least 7 to 10 days from the disbursement date to receive in the mail.

    NO PELL GRANT AWARD

If your award does not include a Pell Grant, you may either:
  • Have a high EFC that does not qualify you for a Pell Grant award
  • Have a Bachelor's degree that does not qualify you for a Pell Grant award
  • Have exceeded the 600 percent lifetime used of Pell Grant according to the new Federal Law

    SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS (SAP) POLICY

  • RSCCD is required by federal regulations to establish a Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy.
  • Students who do not meet the minimum SAP standards will lose their eligibility for financial aid. The complete SAP policy can be found on the financial aid page at www.sac.edu. Deadline to appeal for fall 2017 is 11/17/2017, for spring 2018 is 5/11/2018 and for summer 2018 is 7/12/2018
  • Students, who went through the SAP Appeal process and was approved for an academic program, must adhere to the Educational Plan developed for that program.  The financial aid award may be modified to reflect only the units required for that program.

RETURN OF TITLE IV FUNDS AND OVERPAYMENT
Federal regulations require that a student must pay back part or all of his/her financial aid disbursement if a student withdraws from all or part of his/her classes.  Please make an appointment with a financial aid advisor if you consider dropping your classes.
