SAC Vaccination POD Aims to Increase Access
As part of our commitment to the community, Santa Ana College began serving as a COVID-19 vaccination Point of Dispensing (POD) in February. Our campus was chosen as part of Orange County's efforts to make the distribution of the vaccine more equitable. In January, members of SAC's Health and Wellness team were some of the first on the front lines to help administer vaccines during the rollout. Qualified individuals can make an appointment to be vaccinated at

Ed Arnold Golf Classic Returns in May
One of SAC's most anticipated events, the Ed Arnold Golf Classic, will return May 17 to the Strawberry Farms Golf Club in Irvine. Named after the beloved sportscaster, Ed Arnold attended SAC in 1961 and played for the college football team. He continues to be actively involved in the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame executive committee. Funds raised through the tournament will directly benefit the Santa Ana College Student Athletic Program, the Athletic Hall of Fame, and Student-Athlete scholarships. Standing in Solidarity and Protection of our AAPI Community
At Rancho Santiago Community College District, we take pride in building and enhancing a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Each of our sites and campuses at Santa Ana College and Santiago Canyon College supports our esteemed Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) colleagues (faculty/staff) and students in condemning any kind of discrimination and violence. Together, we stand up for our AAPI community to uplift, serve, and provide much-needed resources and services that assist everyone within the community.

Virtual Event Introduces High School Students to Automotive Pathways
Santa Ana College recently participated in
Vital Link's Regional Automotive Pathway Event, which exposed hundreds of high school students from all over Orange County to the various degrees and certificates offered at each of the five community colleges in the region. SAC provided a parts-labeling activity to get students more acquainted with the parts of an automotive engine and participated in panels to answer questions in both English and Spanish about

KinderCaminata Event Inspires College Goals Early
Each year, through a community-wide collaborative effort, kindergarteners, teachers, and parents visit Santa Ana College to learn about the importance of a college education and career preparation.
KinderCaminata is traditionally scheduled on or near Cesar Chavez' birthdate, March 31. This year, the event was held virtually over two days. Thousands of SAUSD kindergartners watched pre-recorded videos from community leaders, including book readings by Chancellor Marvin Martinez and SAC's Interim President Dr. Marilyn Flores. We look forward to welcoming these kindergarten scholars when they enroll in Santa Ana College in 2033!

Photo Contest Invites Students to Stay Safe and #donyourmask
Prior to the start of Spring Semester in February, all registered students received a Santa Ana College mask in the mail to help keep them safe during the pandemic. They were also invited to participate in a photo contest by posting a picture on social media and sharing their goals for the upcoming term. More than 100 submissions were received, with the winning post shared by Andrew R. He stated in part: “In all honesty, I would be nowhere near where I am today without the inspiration and drive I've been instilled with as a Don, for its goal oriented atmosphere has forced a profound transformative effect on my life…With the help of the outgoing faculty members from the transfer center and counseling office, my path to a successful transfer has been tailored to the prerequisites of my dream school, USC." We congratulate Andrew and all our students who shared their stories and inspiring goals!

Californians Invited to Define Their Communities Through Redistricting
Every 10 years, after the federal government publishes updated census information, California must redraw the boundaries of its Congressional, State Senate, State Assembly and State Board of Equalization districts, so that the districts correctly reflect the state's population. SAC'S Civic Engagement Committee is working with the California Citizens Redistricting Commission to examine best processes to educate our students, staff, and community about the redistricting process.
