Overview​
This program prepares you for Santa Ana College's Biotechnology Lab Assistant Certificate Program. Complete the courses below along with the required courses at Santa Ana College. Then you will have an overview of the principles of biotech. You will know how to operate and maintain standard lab equipment.​​

*The above wage is for those that possess at least an Associates Degree.​


Course Requirements
Students must pass the following THREE courses:
Introduction to Biotechnology (VHLTH704)
​Introductory Biotech Lab (VHLTH705)
Math for College and Career Readiness (HSMTH190)
You must first meet with a counselor before enrolling in HSMTH 190.

Students must pass ONE of the following courses:
​Employability Skills (VBUS400)
English for Work 2 (ESL520)

If you pass VHLTH 704 and 705 with a grade of B or higher, you can earn credit for BIOL 190 Introduction to Biotechnology and BIOL 190L Introductory Biotech Lab through the credit-by-exam process. Credits from VHLTH 704 and 705 can count towards a biotechnology certificate or degree at Santa Ana College. There is no tuition cost for VHLTH 704 and 705.

  • Students must meet with the Continuing Education Counseling Department before enrollment in this program.  ​
