(Santa Ana, Calif.) – The Santa Ana College Foundation (SACF) was named the winner of four 2024 Medallion Awards by the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR) on Nov. 18, 2024. SACF dominated the “Special Event or Fundraising Campaign" category winning gold and bronze medals for the Raising the Game campaign and President's Circle campaign. SACF also won gold in the “Excellence in Writing-Long Form" category for the Profiles in Promise story about Project RISE president Jennifer Sandoval and earned silver in the “Microsite/Landing Page" category. The wins set a department-best record for medals won at the NCMPR Medallion Awards.
“It's extremely motivational and affirming that what we do at SAC Foundation, particularly the powerful storytelling, alumni relations work, and fundraising is worth it because our students are worth it," said Christina Romero, the executive director of the SAC Foundation. “These wins tell us that stories of our student's matter and the funds we raise for them to get to the finish matter too. It is all about them.
The NCMPR Medallion Awards celebrate exceptional achievement in marketing and communication at the community and technical college level across the nation. As one of the leading marketing awards programs, the Medallion Awards recognize professionals working at two-year colleges for their creativity and excellence in reaching and engaging their communities.
“These awards speak to how hard the SAC Foundation worked to ensure our students can have the best resources to succeed at SAC," said President Dr. Annebelle Nery. “Their commitment makes sure our students can succeed at our institution and allow us to provide them the best learning experience."
The SAC Foundation and GradComm worked together to produce the website for the Raising the Game campaign which focuses on creating high-impact opportunities for high achieving students.
Earlier this year, the SAC Foundation presented Profiles in Promise, a storytelling-based campaign that highlighted the powerful stories of students, scholars, and alumni of SAC. One profile focused on alumna Jennifer Sandoval, detailing her story of struggle, family ties, and rising from the darkest place in her life to becoming the president of Project RISE, a program focused on assisting individuals impacted by the criminal justice system.
The President's Circle campaign, a student-success fundraiser, is committed to ensuring that no student is denied educational opportunities due to financial constraint. The campaign earned a bronze medal for the amount of funds raised and for the student-testimonials that spoke to the campaign's impact.
“The fundraising success was a result of the teamwork from our stakeholders, our board of directors, volunteers, donors, community members, and the executives at Santa Ana College," said Romero. “It shows that people in the SAC family are committed to the success."
