(Santa Ana, Calif.) – The National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR) has recognized Santa Ana College (SAC) Foundation a finalist in three prestigious categories for the 2024 Medallion Awards. SAC is honored in the categories of Microsite/Landing Page, Special Event or Fundraising Campaign and Excellence in Writing - Long Form for its innovative marketing and public relations efforts.
“The SAC Foundation has worked hard to let our stakeholders, our alumni, and our business partners know why making a philanthropic impact on our students is important and these awards affirm that our messaging and storytelling matter," said Christina Romero, the executive director of the SAC Foundation. “Winning would be a wonderful honor for our students, our board of directors, and our volunteers to lift them into a spotlight where the mission they contribute to, matters – especially on a national level, as it means recognition across all 50 states."
The NCMPR Medallion Awards celebrate exceptional achievement in marketing and communication at the community and technical college level across the nation. As one of the leading marketing awards programs, the Medallion Awards recognize professionals working at two-year colleges for their creativity and excellence in reaching and engaging their communities.
Earlier this year, the SAC Foundation presented Profiles in Promise, a storytelling-based campaign that highlighted the powerful stories of students, scholars, and alumni of SAC. One profile focused on alumna Jennifer Sandoval, detailing her story of struggle, family ties, and rising from the darkest place in her life to becoming the president of Project RISE, a program focused on assisting individuals impacted by the criminal justice system. This story is a finalist in the Excellence in Writing - Long Form category.
The SAC Foundation and GradComm also worked together to produce the website for the Raising the Game campaign which focuses on creating high-impact opportunities for high achieving students and is being recognized as a finalist by NCMPR in the Microsite/Landing page category. Additionally, the Foundation's efforts to the President's Circle Campaign have named SAC as a finalist in the Special Event or Fundraising Campaign category.
“As the SAC Office of Advancement and Foundation grows and sets higher standards of strategic goals, we are eager to utilize these awards as a way for more individuals to participate in our philanthropic family," said Romero. “It's fun to win, but we don't want to win just to win; we want to win to engage more students, more stakeholders, more alumni, more donors, so when they associate themselves with their alma mater, or with their community college, it brings pride to them."
The gold, silver, and bronze winners will be announced during NCMPR's upcoming fall district conferences in November.
