Future Educators for Excellence
Future Educators for Excellence prepares students to be leaders in the field of education (e.g., teaching, library, counseling, school psychology, etc.) by encouraging active participation in career and academic planning, personal and professional development, and experiential learning through fieldwork.
Students may join at any time and will be recognized upon completion of all requirements. Recognition will include certificates of participation and completion, as well as special recognition at the point of graduation.
How do I join?
- Attend a counseling appointment
- Participate in at least 1 approved activity
- Participate in fieldwork
What are the fieldwork requirements?
As you are a Future Educator, fieldwork must be student-facing in an educational setting. Fieldwork can be paid (employment) or unpaid (volunteer), and can be completed through class or on your own. If volunteering, we encourage students to utilize the Service Learning Program for help with placement and time sheet tracking. If you are interested in gaining employment in an educational setting, please visit our website for easy navigation of open positions and connect with the Career Center for employment preparation.
How do I earn a graduation sash?
To receive a graduation sash, complete the required paperwork (downloadable on our website) to document your participation each semester. Additionally, you must have at least 75 total fieldwork hours completed and earn a transferable GPA of 2.8 or higher. Once your paperwork is processed, you will be eligible for a graduation sash and invited to be honored at our FE4E End-of-Year Recognition event.
