(Santa Ana) - Rancho Santiago Community College District announces the appointment of Marsha V. Gable, Ed.D., as associate dean, Extended Opportunities Programs and Services (EOPS)/Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE), at Santa Ana College. In this role, Gable is responsible for the supervision and administration of all programs and services provided through EOPS/CARE. Her responsibilities include supervising all functions and activities that help low-income and disadvantaged students, including former foster youth, access and succeed in higher education. Services and programs offered include counseling, tutoring, job and career training, core courses, Summer College Readiness Program, extended services to single parents on cash aid through California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKS), and more. She is responsible for overseeing the personnel assigned to EOPS/CARE, handling student eligibility for its programs, delivering those programs and services, and administration of the EOPS/CARE budgets.
With 15 years of experience in higher education, Gable offers a wealth of experience, as an administrator, faculty member, and a counselor. Since 2006, she served as associate director for University Outreach Programs at California State University, San Marcos. In that position, she oversaw the following programs: Early Outreach, Early Assessment, CSU College Corps Program, TRIO/Educational Talent Search, TRIO/Upward Bound, Veterans Services, and the Veterans Success Center. Prior to that, she served as supervisor of the TRIO Programs at Palomar Community College. Gable also has served for over four years as an associate faculty member in sociology at MiraCosta Community College.
Gable earned a B.A. in social sciences and an M.A. in sociological practice at California State University, San Marcos. She completed her Ed.D. in educational leadership with a specialization in community college leaders at San Diego State University. A leader in her profession, Gable has been active in many academic committees and organizations. She has served on the Western Association of Educational Opportunity Personnel Board of Directors since 2004 and is a member of the Association of California Community College Administrators.
