Student Support Programs: EOPS/CARE, CalWORKs & Guardian Scholars
The workshop will highlight the EOPS/CARE, CalWORKs & Guardian Scholars student support programs at Santa Ana College. Our programs are centered on eliminating barriers in education for students from disadvantaged backgrounds (e.g., first-generation students, low-income students, foster youth). The goal of our programs is to provide students with extra support services that ensure their academic success through a nurturing environment and support structures that foster a sense of belonging.

Education Accessified
We are all wonderfully unique. Some may prefer in-person courses, while others prefer online. Certain classes may be easier than others, though learning may not happen the same ways as our peers. Learning tools such as speech-to-text or text-to-speech are already built into computers, so we have the option to use them. Through DSPS, students with disabilities may also access tools called “accommodations,” guidance with selecting classes, and individualized support. Let’s chat about strategies and learning tools available to everyone, whether we have an identified disability or not! Disability is human and so are we, so let’s do this together!

Honors Transfer Program Orientation
The Honors Transfer Program at Santa Ana College welcomes students who want to challenge themselves and offers honors sections of transferable general education courses, combined “stacked” classes, and contracts. The honors experience is characterized by close interaction with Honors Transfer Program faculty, small class size, and special projects and activities. Orientation is required to complete the program.
