Nursing Orientation
It is highly recommended that you attend a
Nursing orientation that is conducted via Zoom with our Nursing Counselor to
inquire detailed information about our nursing program. Students
can sign up by clicking here or by contacting the Counseling Center at 714-564-6103.
Advanced Placement
Advanced placement in the program may be granted to those students with certain prior experience, vocational nursing, or registered nursing education or equivalent. Prior successful theory and clinical courses must be within three years of entry to the SAC Nursing Program semester. Advanced Placement/Transfer/Challenge applicants require an individual appointment with the Program Director. Advanced placement students are accepted on a space-available basis. Priority class placement is given to continuing SAC re-entry and advanced-placed students with alternating entry based on space availability.
Students seeking advance placement must submit a different application, called Prerequisite Verification Form. This application is accepted at any time of the year. A meeting with the Program Director to determine appropriate placement is required - See Advanced Placement / LVN-RN Entry Information.
Potential students who have a letter from the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN):
If you have a letter from the BRN indicating you need to take courses requiring obstetric and/or pediatric and psychiatric content, please contact the Health Sciences/Nursing Office to make an appointment to discuss procedures.
If you have a letter from the BRN indicating you need to take courses requiring medical/surgical content (regardless if other content is needed or not), you will need to complete the entire Nursing Program; therefore, you would need to apply through the multi-criteria admission process and be selected to enter the program as any other applicant.
