Before you get started on the paperwork, let's have a quick review of what an articulation agreement is:

• An articulated high school course is one in which a determination has been made that a course offered at the secondary level (high school) is comparable to a specific community college course.

• Title 5 regulations permit high school students to earn college credit that is notated on a college transcript credit through credit by exam mechanisms, with no residency requirements.

• "Credit by exam" is a mechanism long in existence that can be used to award credit for demonstrated learning.

• Such credit may be granted only to a student who is registered at the college and in good standing and only for a course listed in the catalog of the community college. Please see below for a current list of articulated courses. 

• The nature and content of the examination shall be determined solely by faculty in the discipline who normally teach the course for which credit is to be granted.

• The student's academic record shall be clearly annotated to reflect that credit was earned by examination.

• Units for which credit is given shall not be counted in determining the 12 semester hours of credit in residence required for an associate degree.
