| Vicky Castro, M.A.Victoria Castro is the State Preschool Program Director at Placentia Yorba Linda Unified School District. She is bilingual in Spanish and holds a Master’s Degree from California State Long Beach University with a major in Education and an emphasis in Early Childhood Education (ECE). She has worked in the ECE field for 15 years performing different roles including teacher, parent educator, community liaison and program director. She has over 11 years of experience supervising adults and administering state funded preschool programs. Vicky has been an adjunct professor for Santa Ana College since 2014 teaching CDEV 070 and CDEV 111A. She also has taught the course of “Administration and Supervision of Early Childhood Centers” at University of California Riverside Extension. As a guest speaker, she has presented different workshops to families of Westminster School District, Project Access, Rancho Santiago Community College and preschool staff of ECE programs. She is involved in the Quality Start OC with the Orange County Department of Education. Vicky is a strong believer that educators shall provide students opportunities for respectful, responsive, and reciprocal interactions, an environment that promotes encouragement and understanding as students struggle with challenging situations. Her goal as a professor is to improve students’ academic performance by using a multicultural responsive teaching approach to accommodate each individual students’ needs, learning style and diverse background.
