Course Description

Designed to increase awareness and appreciation of music from the European Classical tradition in relation to general culture and history. Develops basic understanding of musical elements and deepens students' experience of music through video, films and recordings. Recommended for non-music majors.

Blackboard System Requirements:

  • Platform: Windows 98, 2000, XP, Vista / Mac OS 9 or higher.
  • Minimum Hardware Requirements: 64 MB of RAM, 1 GB of free disk space.
  • Modem: 56 k modem or higher.
  • Browser: For best results, we recommend Internet Explorer 6.x Service Pack 1, or 7.x (PC); Safari 1.x (Mac).

  • Browser Settings: JavaScript & Cookies must be enabled.
  • Software: Requirements for applications and plug-ins depend on the types of files a user needs to view from Blackboard. Some of the most common: Microsoft Office applications or viewers, Adobe Acrobat Reader, RealPlayer, QuickTime, Flash Player.

You will need to have prior Internet and E-mail experience before you take this course.  If you do not have access to a computer, you may use the Academic Computing Center or Library during their operating hours.  The resources in these labs meet the course resource requirements and there is technical support available.

Important - College Policies

Drop for non-payment

Enrollment fees must be paid IN FULL within three business days of registration or you will be dropped for non-payment. The date that you register counts as the first business day.

Student Responsibility to drop classes

Students who cannot continue in a course have an obligation to withdraw officially through the Admissions and Records Office.  You can contact the Admissions Office to confirm withdrawal dates or check the Section Information area in WebAdvisor for your individual course(s).
