Monday – Thursday: 8 am to 7:45 pm
Friday:                     8 am to 5:45 pm

DIRECTION

The Orange County Public Law Library is located in the Santa Ana Civic Center Plaza , building #32. From the 5 freeway north or south, exit on First Street . Drive west approximately 1 mile to Flower Street . Turn right on Flower. Drive north to the intersection of Flower Street and 6th Street . Turn right into the marked parking area. Walk upstairs to the Civic Center Plaza level to the main entrance of the Library.

 

PARKING

  • Nearby parking is available at the Civic Center parking lot located at the intersection of Flower Street and 6th Street . The cost is $1.00 for each half-hour or fraction of a half-hour up to $15.00. Parking fees are collected Monday through Saturday.

  • Less expensive parking is also available farther away from the Law Library. You may park in the parking structure at the west end of 6th Street on the north side. The Law Library is approximately two blocks from this parking structure. The cost is 50 cents for each half-hour or fraction of a half-hour up to $8.00.

BORROWING PRIVILEGES

Resident Borrower: any resident of Orange County who:

1.      Shows proof of Orange County residency;

2.      Files a proper application in person;

3.      Deposits $100.00 in cash or check with the Library; and

4.      Pays $50.00 annual dues/fees.

A Resident Borrower may borrow up to 5 books or other Library materials for 14 days. A fine of $1.00 a day is charged for each overdue item.

REFERENCE ASSISTANCE

  • Reference Librarian is available at the Public Services counter.

  • The Law Librarians also provides e-mail reference service, Ask a Librarian!, for people who cannot get to the library because of distance or time constraints. A valid email address is required for a response.

  • A 24/7 Chat Reference, "Ask Now," allows users to connect to Reference Librarians from California 's public law libraries answer law related reference questions.

INTERNET ACCESS

The Library offers free Internet access (restricted to legal research) to the public from 6 public stations. Westlaw and a variety of research databases are available to the public for use at Library computers (see web databases and CD databases). Printing and copying cost 15¢ per page (see Map).

GOVERNMENT DEPOSITORY COLLECTION
The Orange County Law Library is a selective federal and state depository library. It's important for the library's patrons because it gives the patrons access to some of the government's vast collection of information. Other Selective Depository Libraries in Orange County includes Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine Libraries.

 

TOURS are offered to groups or classes who have an interest in becoming familiar with the Law Library. Group tours may be arranged by calling (714) 834-3397 at least one week in advance of the requested tour date. Tours may be arranged for any hours in which the Library is open and are limited to 15 people. OCPLL website has a tour form that can be faxed and request can also be emailed.
