High School​​ Diploma FAQs

What is the Online HSD? 
The School of Continuing Education Online HSD Program offers 8-week classes that allow you to finish your diploma 100% online.  All of our classes are taught by instructors who have undergone intensive training in how to teach online.  You will take your classes using an online learning system known as Canvas. After successful completion of your classes and all program requirements, you will earn your High School diploma!  
Do I need to get transcripts? 
Yes. You will need to have official transcripts from all high schools you attended to create your education plan.
You can order transcripts from Parchment.com. Cost ranges from three to twenty dollars, and it takes approximately 3 days for delivery. 

Parchment sends the transcripts to us electronically.  Please select as destination “Prepared for: Santa Ana College - Centennial Education Center”.
Foreign Transcripts: If you have completed credits outside the United States, you can email your copies to: scecounseling@sac.edu​
What else do I need to get started?
  1. ​It is strongly recommended that you have a personal email address that you check regularly; this is the best way for us to contact and update you. 
  2. Reliable internet access 
  3. A desktop or laptop is highly recommended for online learning

How long will it take me to finish the program? 
It depends on how many classes you need, how many classes you complete in one semester, and how much time and effort you dedicate to your studies.   
When you meet with a counselor, they can review an estimated timeline with you. 
How many credits are required to obtain my High School diploma?   
160 in specific areas such as English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, humanities and Electives 
How many hours a week are required?  
On average you can expect to spend 20 hours a week per course.
What if I am having trouble with technology?

I have never taken an online class before. What can I expect?
Each class is broken into 8-week modules and you are expected to complete one module per week.
