The Digital Music Production Certificate Program

at Santa Ana College

Digital music producers use all sorts of recording technology to produce music to be used in other types of media. These recordings are used on websites, television shows, movies and videogames.

The program provides students with hands on experience and a working knowledge of the creative and technical issue surrounding the production of digital audio and its application and synchronization with other media. Students will study various means of computer assisted digital audio production including sequencing, digital recording, recording studio techniques, mix down and synchronization to video. The business of music as well as current and emerging technologies for web audio design will also be covered. A variety of music electives are available to help students gain experience in other musical skills including instruction on an instrument, ensemble playing, and music theory.

The digital audio facility at the Digital Media Center is an Apple Certified Training Center for Education. On staff, we have instructors certified by Apple to deliver the most current and comprehensive curriculum in Logic software as well as a wide range of other digital audio topics according to Apple training specifications.

At our state of the art facility, we offer the Certificate in Digital Music Production Certificate, a 17 unit program designed to prepare students for work as a computer-assisted audio specialist in a recording studio, audio-visual post production facility, audio project studio, or video game company. This program provides students with hands on experience in a cutting edge, 24-station audio lab with industry standard editing capability. Students develop a working knowledge of the creative and technical issues involved in the production of digital audio and its applications and synchronization with other media.
