About the Music Department at Santa Ana College
We want to sincerely thank all continuing students and new students who are considering enrolling in our vibrant offerings. We have many classes that can be taken in either a "face-to-face" or online environment. For example, our
music theory and musicianship courses feature
engaging online modules as well as direct interaction. Our piano, guitar, voice, and string classes provide effective hands-on training. Our ensembles involve innovative opportunities in
live performance, multi-media and live streaming experiences. Our
applied program offers
on-on-one instruction with professional working musicians that we have always been proud to deliver.
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
Piano Classes at all levels are being offered (161, 162, 163, 164A, 164B).
We have keyboards that can be borrowed by students, so don't hesitate to sign up for these important and enjoyable classes.
For our
Digital Music Production classes, we have Mac laptops with the program Logic installed that can be borrowed by students who enroll. Don't put off taking these classes; we can accommodate you even if you don't have a computer or recording software.
Music Lab (MUS 009abcd) is only a third of a unit and quite inexpensive. This will give you open access to our lab workers and instructional assistants in the Music Lab, and this is a tremendous help to students needing extra assistance with their music studies.

Vacant Position, Instrumental Music
Santa Ana College offers music training for experienced musicians and beginners. We schedule classes for day and evening students. Also, for maximum skill development, we provide practice rooms and music labs at least 52 hours a week, Monday through Friday.
Beginning music students have a choice of various keyboard, voice, and instrumental classes. For students seriously committed to our program, we provide lessons for those who qualify by audition. A student can study classical, contemporary pop, and jazz playing styles.
Santa Ana College ensembles include Concert Chorale, Chamber Singers, Vocal Jazz Workshop, Jazz Ensemble, Latin Jazz Band, Mariachi, Guitar Ensemble, Chamber Symphony and Concert Band; others are formed to serve particular students' needs.
We encourage non-majors-as well as music majors-to take our theory, musicianship, and electronic music classes. Following successful completion of the two-year music study plan and required general education courses, music majors can earn an Associate of Arts degree and can transfer to a four-year university to complete a baccalaureate degree. Please contact us any time.
