World Dance and Cultures

This 3-unit, general education course looks at dance around the world and how it reflects a culture’s religion, society, royal courts, cultural identity and classic theatrical traditions.  Dance forms from Africa, Asia, Europe, Mexico and Latin America, Middle East, Native-America and North America are studied.  The class also observes how these dance forms are practiced in Southern California.
