Education: Monica Porter was hired in the Fall of 2005, as a full-time faculty member assuming the roles of Professor and Coordinator of the Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program. Ms. Porter received a B.A. in Communicative Disorders, a B.S. in Psychology and an M.A. in Communicative Disorders from San Diego State University. Prior to coming to Santa Ana College, Ms. Porter’s history is that of Speech-Language Pathologist for 12 years with experience working across a variety of settings: hospitals, rehabilitation centers, private practice, school districts and providing in-home therapy consultations . Areas of interest are in early intervention and bilingual/ multicultural issues as it pertains to clients.
Ms. Porter holds the Certificate of Clinical Competency form the American Speech-Language Hearing Association in addition to California State Licensure.
Ms. Porter is also a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) in addition to the California Speech-Language Hearing Association (CSHA).
“Speech Language Pathology has been a dynamic and ever changing career for me. Being at Santa Ana College, I feel as though I have been given the chance to come full circle. Through teaching, I am able to share my love of this profession with my students as the professors in my past did for me.”
Ms. Porter currently instructs the following classes: Speech Language Pathology Assisting 118, 120, 150, 190 and 250.
